A new year signals the start of fresh beginnings, and that includes your home. As you dismantle your holiday decorations, start thinking about reinvigorating your décor. A series of small changes can keep the look of your home updated and current.

Catherine Anderson, owner and founder of Robert & Wallace, a new Idaho-based, woman-owned home design business, was inspired by her grandparents, Robert Johnson, and Wallace Yates. Both men were entrepreneurs in the Boise area who ran long-tenured businesses guided by the values of quality and excellent customer service. Operating her company based on the same business practices, Anderson shares some suggestions for refreshing your home.

“To begin,” says Anderson, “Do a home décor deep clean as you take down your holiday decorations.” This means taking stock of what you own that brings you joy versus what feels dated. “If you don’t really love it, get rid of it,” she advises. “Paring down provides a fresh canvas to work with.”

Anderson recommends that the next step includes putting together a vision board of looks you love to create an idea of what you would like to see in your space. “Take some time to consider color palette and textural touches. Then, purchase pieces over time instead of buying many new things all at once.”

To aid in the acquisition of decor that works beautifully together, Robert & Wallace offers a subscription box service that includes a quarterly delivery of timeless pieces that are meant to last. With a focus on colors, textures, and materials you might find in nature, the items in each delivery complement each other and help build a lasting collection of high quality, beautiful décor.

Included in each box is a style guide providing inspiration and instruction to using the pieces to each room’s best advantage. The guide also helps subscription clients combine items from past and future shipments to create cohesive design.

In addition to online retail and subscription services, Boise locals can visit the Robert & Wallace Market Trolley, a mobile shopping concept. Anderson says, “The Market Trolley has been a great solution for us to facilitate the face-to-face service that provides a personal, hands-on experience.” A brick-and-mortar location is also in the planning stages. “The physical location is critical to us, and we want to be certain we select a spot that feels right,” she explains.

By creating a new look over time, your home can become the sanctuary you seek with décor pieces meant to last and remain beautiful for years to come.
