As the Vilar Performing Arts Center (VPAC) in Beaver Creek, Colorado, commemorates its 25th anniversary, it stands as a testament to the enduring power of the arts. Located three stories below Beaver Creek Village, the VPAC has been a beacon of cultural enrichment since its grand opening in February 1998. Being the first mountain resort community in the world with its own performing arts facility, the VPAC has diverse and captivating cultural events, establishing itself as a one-of-a-kind experience. With its unique resort location, intimate setting, and impressive ability to attract major talents from all corners of the entertainment world, the VPAC has become a treasured gem in the heart of Colorado.

Over the past 25 years, the VPAC has witnessed legendary performances that rival some of the greatest venues in the United States. The stage has hosted renowned artists such as the legendary cellist Yo-Yo Ma, the comedic genius Robin Williams, the iconic musician Ringo Starr, the legendary guitarist Peter Frampton, the blues legend BB King, and many more. The VPAC is the melting pot of diverse art forms, offering an eclectic blend of music, theater, dance, comedy, and more, enchanting audiences of all ages.

Executive Director Owen Hutchinson, the guiding force behind the VPAC’s enduring success, shared his thoughts on the milestone celebration. “It’s no surprise the VPAC has been as successful as it has,” Hutchinson said. “We’re constantly investing in the theater to maintain its state-of-the-art facility. We are always considering how we can elevate experiences, enhance performances, and accomplish our mission of enriching the cultural landscape of Beaver Creek and beyond.”

Throughout its 25-year journey, the VPAC has consistently strived to elevate the theater experience for its patrons. Significant annual upgrades have been at the forefront of this mission. A recent half-million-dollar audio upgrade ensures a personalized and immersive sound experience for each seat, transforming the way audiences connect with the performances. The stunning Rippeto Family Chandelier, a masterful creation by artist Dale Chihuly, which was installed in late 2022, brings a touch of artistic splendor to the venue.
